At Rukam, we believe that technological development should be accompanied by responsibility and respect for the environment.

The technology industry uses a vast amount of equipment, components, and raw materials. At the same time, constant technological evolution causes many devices to be replaced even when they are still capable of operating effectively.

That is why we seek to apply a simple principle to our business: use resources consciously, extend the useful life of equipment whenever possible, and properly dispose of what can no longer be used.

Respecting the environment also means avoiding the waste of resources that can still be used.

Our Commitment to the Environment

Environmental responsibility begins with everyday decisions.

In our operations, we seek to reduce waste, make proper use of equipment and components that still have useful life, and ensure appropriate disposal of materials that can no longer be reused.

This commitment is present from the moment we evaluate used equipment until the point when a particular component finally reaches the end of its useful life.

The well-known 3 Rs of sustainability provide a simple way to describe how we approach our environmental responsibility.

REDUCE
Use resources consciously and avoid unnecessary disposal and replacement. Equipment that still meets a company's needs does not necessarily need to be replaced simply because a new generation has entered the market.

REUSE
Extend the useful life of servers, storage systems, switches, and components that are still technically capable of operating. Reusing equipment reduces premature disposal and makes better use of the resources already invested in manufacturing it.

RECYCLE
When equipment or a component truly reaches the end of its useful life, its materials should be properly processed and disposed of, helping prevent electronic waste from being improperly discarded into the environment.

Technology Also Generates Waste

Electronic equipment is made from a wide variety of materials, including metals, plastics, electronic circuit boards, cables, batteries, and components.

When improperly discarded, these materials can create environmental problems. That is why equipment that can no longer be reused should be handled and disposed of appropriately.

At Rukam, equipment intended for disposal is dismantled and its different materials are separated, allowing them to be properly directed to companies specializing in recycling and waste processing.

OUR PRIORITY

1. Avoid unnecessary disposal.
2. Reuse equipment that still has useful life.
3. Reuse components that can still be put to productive use.
4. Separate materials when reuse is no longer possible.
5. Direct waste to appropriate disposal and recycling channels.

Giving Technology a Second Life

Much of today's Enterprise equipment was designed to operate continuously for many years.

The fact that a server, storage system, or switch has been replaced in a particular environment does not necessarily mean that it has reached the end of its useful life.

When equipment remains in suitable technical condition, it can be selected, tested, prepared, and placed back into operation.

This extends its useful life and helps prevent perfectly functional equipment from becoming electronic waste prematurely.

RUKAM Certified and Responsible Reuse

Reusing hardware does not simply mean putting any used equipment back on the market.

The RUKAM Certified standard involves the selection, inspection, testing, and preparation of equipment before it returns to the market.

In this way, environmental responsibility and technical responsibility go hand in hand: extending the useful life of technology while applying appropriate technical criteria for its reuse.

Small Actions Also Make a Difference

It means incorporating a culture of waste reduction, material reuse, conscious consumption, and proper waste disposal into our operations.
